Tiny Houses for the Homeless
Your help is needed!

Genesis House & East Kenwood Missionary Baptist Church

Genesis House and East Kenwood Missionary Baptist Church hope you'll consider donating this Christmas season to help complete 5 tiny homes to be used as emergency shelters for local homeless families.

  • Genesis Houses receives 2,500 homeless visits a year.
  • Children under the age of 18 account for 40% of their clients.
  • It’s estimated that there are 165 children in the Siloam Springs School District currently homeless.
  • Genesis House has been serving the homeless in our area for over 10 years.

Making a Difference with Tiny House Emergency Shelters:
2 years ago, Genesis House started a program called Family Jump Start to transition families from homelessness to self-sustainability. For 90 days, Genesis House enables a homeless family to rent housing and create a plan that includes obtaining a job, financial training, and other skills. Each family must meet established goals and save up funds to prepare for graduation and launch into permanent housing of their own.  Genesis House provides a case worker that supports each family up to 9 months post graduation.

The program has a 92% success rate with 20 families served!
East Kenwood Baptist Church has partnered closely with Genesis House since the beginning of the program and has set aside space at 2701 East Kenwood Street to build 4 to 8 tiny homes.  These homes cut the cost of each family served by 25% and will enable the annual families served to expand from 12 to 16.  We're also building a 150 sq. ft. house that will serve 4 individuals, or couples each year.  The tiny house project is in it’s final stage of fundraising with a goal of $25k to complete all 5 homes. We currently have a $10k matching grant for the first $10k of donations through mid-January.  That means, only $15k is needed to finish the homes!  The first 2 homes will open in January of 2019 and the final 3 homes have an opening goal of mid-March.
