Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Siloam Springs Farmers Market to its new location. Even though the Farmers Market started in 1999, this year was the first year for a new location at Memorial Park. Main Street Siloam Springs has been hosting it for about 10 years now, and has grown so much over the years. The Farmers Market is a producer only market, which means that all items sold are grown and made by the farmer or vender. The market accepts SNAP benefits and matches purchases made with SNAP dollar for dollar up to $50 per week, per person. The money to match those purchases is provided by a grant they receive each year.

The mission of the Siloam Springs Farmers Market is “To enliven the community of Siloam Springs by connecting consumers directly to quality local farm products and handcrafts and contributing to downtown development through creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors.”

The market currently hosts several events each month, and twice a year they host live music.  The first Saturday is the Sample of the Season event where you can enjoy a taste of seasonal produce, fruits, and local made foods. The second Saturday of each month is Kids’ Day and the Power of Produce club (POP) which provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games, and showing children new fruits and vegetables. The Power of Produce Club also gives vouchers to spend at the market, allowing them to make their decisions and purchases at the Farmers Market. The third Saturday is the Let’s Cook Local event/cooking demonstration. Local chefs prepare recipes using fresh ingredients and serving samples. Any SNAP recipients that attend the demo can receive $25 in Double dollars to spend at the market.

Their 5th Annual Farm to Table Dinner is September 8th at Red Oaks Barn from 6-8pm. Tickets go on sale August 8th. All proceeds from this event go to the promotion and development of the Farmer’s Market.

Siloam Springs Farmers Market is open Saturdays from mid-April through mid-October from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can visit their website here as well for more information.
