The Ribbon Cutting for Sweet Treats Coffee Shop was held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Cherokee Casino and Hotel. They first launched Sweet Treats Bakery in December of 2012. Billie Jean, the head Pastry Chef, made a 250 pound cupcake to get the attention of their guests and for them to see they had started a gourmet cupcake line.
The main focus and drive started with cupcakes. They started with big events at the Casino and grew from there. When guests started wanting to purchase them, they put them up for sale; selling pies, brownies, donuts, and pastries. Sweet Treats took off! “People are in awe daily at our creations; taking photos of our cases” Billie Jean said. She started teaching her team how to make specialty cakes and birthday cakes, and to have vision, beauty, consistency, and great flavor.
Billie Jean worked at Little Debbie’s for 20 years and now has 25 Years’ experience with baking and creating. She has taught her team mass production, quality, and to always strive to be the best. Billie Jean said “It has been a great journey and I am so proud and excited to have this opportunity.” If you haven’t stopped by and tried any of her yummy sweets then you are truly missing out. We here at the Chamber love their desserts!
