The first day of business was June 6, 1957 for Barnett’s Dairyette, 5 years before Sam Walton opened his first Walmart Discount Store. The Founder, Ervie Barnett, retired in December of 1977 after twenty years of serving ice cream and smiles. The daily operation of Barnett’s was then passed to David Harper and stayed in the Barnett family for three generations from 1957-2002.
Barnett’s Dairyette was sold again in February, 2002 and for the very first time the business was not under the ownership of a Barnett, but instead Reid Carroll. After 15 years, and with a vision to place the future of Barnett’s in good hands, Barnett’s was sold to Jacob Frese on June 27, 2017.
His goal is to continue the rich history of a Restaurant rooted in the heart of Siloam Springs. The Dairyette has over 60 years under it's belt, and is still going strong! Shortly after purchasing the Dairyette, Frese wanted to restore the neon sign to its original glory. The original sign was damaged in a hail storm but in April 2018, the neon sign was finally lit for the first time in nearly two decades.
