Summer day camp in Tahlequah
Tahlequah – The Grand River Dam Authority Ecosystems Management Department, in cooperation with Oklahoma Blue Thumb and the Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Service, are headed to the creek and they are looking for a few summer campers to come along.
On June 27 and 28, at the Armory Municipal Center in Tahlequah, the organizations will be hosting the 2018 “Journey to the Bottom of the Creek” Illinois River Youth Day Camp.
Campers will have the opportunity to discover the water cycle, how water gets polluted, see what lives under the water and even see how erosion works. There will also be a chance to seine for bugs and fish and experience a guided float trip on the Illinois River with GRDA Vice President of Scenic Rivers Operations “Cousin” Ed Fite.
The camp is open to children age 9 to 12 and cost is $25 per camper (make checks payable to GRDA). Each camper will receive a small net, t-shirt, lunch and snacks. The camp will run both days from 9AM to 3PM (drop off no earlier than 8:30AM and pick up by 3:30PM each day).
The camp is limited to 25 children, but spots are still available! To register, visit grda.com/journeytothecreek. Registrations are due by end of day on Friday, June 15.
